One-China principle urged in Ma's Singapore mourning

Xinhua, March 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese mainland on Tuesday urged proper handling of Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou's activities in Singapore by sticking to the one-China principle.

"We hope all sides will properly handle Taiwan personnel's participation in mourning the passing of former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, based on the one-China principle," said Fan Liqing, spokesperson of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

Fan made the remarks in response to inquires about Ma's flying to Singapore on Tuesday.

Lee always upheld the one-China policy while he was alive and did a lot of work to improve relations across the Taiwan Strait, Fan said. Endit
