Tokyo stocks open lower after Wall St. declines

Tokyo stocks open slightly lower in early trading Tuesday, following overnight declines on Wall Street.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 21.80 points, or 0.11 percent, from Monday to 19,732.56. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 4.84 points, or 0.30 percent, at 1,587.41.

Major decliners included insurance, real estate and shipping issues. Endi
