Thousands pay tribute to late former Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew at Istana

Over a thousand of relatives, friends and old peers of late Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew have came to pay tribute at Istana's Sri Temasek since Monday afternoon, local media Lianhe Zaobao reported Tuesday.
A private family wake has been held at Sri Temasek since Monday before Lee's body is moved to the Parliament House from Wednesday to Saturday for the public to pay tribute.
Lee's funeral hall has been located at the antechamber of Sri Temasek, decorated with white orchid flowers.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Monday night in his facebook that he greatly appreciated the messages of condolences and support following the death of his father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
"Grateful to those who came to pay respects at the wake this evening. Many told me how my father had made a difference to their lives."
Lee Kuan Yew co-founded the ruling People's Action Party and became the prime minister of the newly born republic in 1965. He stepped down as prime Minster in 1990.
Lee Kuan Yew passed away Monday morning at the age of 91. Endi
