Fluminense sack coach Cristovao

Xinhua, March 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Four-time Brazilian Serie A champions Fluminense sacked coach Cristovao Borges on Monday following a poor run of results.

The announcement came less than two days after Fluminense's 1-1 draw with lowly Tigres in Rio de Janeiro's state league.

"We thank (Cristovao) for his work and for helping the club through this important transition period," Fluminense said in a statement on their official website.

Cristovao guided Fluminense to 28 victories, 11 draws and 19 defeats after taking charge of the club in April.

Among the favorites to succeed him are former Brazil under-20 coach Ney Franco and one-time Atletico Mineiro manager Ricardo Drubscky. Endi
