Uganda to face Nigeria in International friendly

Xinhua, March 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Uganda Cranes will play giants Nigeria in an international friendly on March 28, a senior sports official said here on Thursday.

Edgar Watson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda FA told Xinhua that the match will be played at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.

"Yes we have confirmed the match will be on in Nigeria and this is good because we are playing a high profile side," said Watson.

Uganda's Head Coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic said he is happy with the build-up because it will give them good ground to test a number of things ahead of several International matches this year.

Early this week the Nigeria FA were forced to shop around for a team the Super Eagles could face in an International friendly after Bolivia pulled out. The Bolivia FA said they were not comfortable with the venue of the game because of fears of unrest as Nigeria prepares for elections.

Sredojevic said they have been assured of security and they are looking forward to the game. The Coach said he will name the traveling team before Friday.

Top players like Geoffrey Massa and Dennis Onyango who feature for University of Pretoria and Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Premier League are expected to be part of the Ugandan team. Endite
