British FTSE 100 closes higher on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 0.25 percent, or 17.12 points, to 6,962.32 points.

Fresnillo's share price increased by 5.43 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Randgold Resources, Marks & Spencer Group, Tullow Oil and Antofagasta increased by 3.23 percent, 3.10 percent, 2.25 percent and 1.98 percent respectively.

Next led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 4.00 percent, followed by British American Tobacco (3.37 percent), TUI AG Reg Shs (2.24 percent), Anglo American (2.20 percent) and Meggitt (1.70 percent).

The index has gained 7.20 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
