India's bishop visits 72-year-old nun gangraped in eastern state

India's top bishop Baselios Cleemis on Wednesday met the 72-year-old nun who was gangraped in the eastern state of West Bengal last week.

"We have nothing to do with the political parties in India. We see this incident in isolation," he told the media after meeting the nun at a hospital in the state's Nadia district.

"We will ensure that justice is done and served ... and is visible ... miscreants are brought to appropriate action," he added.

The horrible incident happened early Saturday when six men entered a convent school and gangraped the elderly nun.

Though some of the criminals were caught on surveillance cameras installed on the premises of the school, the state police have only detained eight people and none of them has been formally arrested.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed "deep concern" over the case and sought a report from the state government. Endi
