The Basketball Association of the Philippines (SBP) said on Wednesday it was honored to have been included in the shortlist of hosts for the 2019 FIBA World Cup along with China.

FIBA confirmed Tuesday that the 2019 World Cup will be played in Asia, and that China and the Philippines are the two remaining candidate hosts.

"We are honored that the FIBA Executive Committee has chosen Asia as the site of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, shortlisting the Philippines together with our esteemed Asian brother, China," the SBP said in a statement.

"We shall endeavor to put our best foot forward as we work on the finalization of our bid offer," the statement added.

The FIBA Central Board will make a final decision on the hosting bid when it meets in June. Endi
