34 militants killed in army air raid in NW Pakistan

Xinhua, March 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 34 suspected militants were killed and several others injured in an offensive by Pakistani army in the country's northwestern Khyber tribal region on Wednesday, the military said.

Inter-Services Public relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistani army, said in a statement that houses believed to be hideouts of suspected militants were pounded by army jets in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along the Pakistan- Afghanistan border.

Identities of the killed militants have not been revealed by the army yet.

The air strike came two days after the military announced successful end of Operation Khyber-1 in the area since October last year.

The army said that over 100 militants were killed during the operation, while around 450 terrorists have been arrested for their involvement in anti-state activities. Endi
