Ghana beats host Uganda in CAF Beach Soccer Championship qualifier

Xinhua, March 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana's Black Sharks defeated hosts Uganda 9-6 in the first leg of the 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Beach Soccer Championship qualifier on Sunday.

Michael Sema opened the scoring for the visitors before Matthew Lamptey scored another to make it 2-0. Uganda soon fought back to level matters with a brace by Baker Lukooya.

The much experienced Ghana team scored again through Adye who added three more goals, Michael Sema who netted three goals, while Isaac Ofori picked one to his name. Uganda had Hamimu Semakula, Brian Nkuubi and Roch Somoka also scoring.

"This is a good result because we suffered a lot making this trip to Uganda. We even traveled with only six players because of lack of enough finances," said Ghana's coach Theophilus Nii Armah.

Haruna Kebba, Uganda's coach, said although they lost the match, they will work harder for the return leg to take place in Accra next week. "We shall not give up," added Kebba. Endi
