Russia will fulfill all its obligations as a host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup to make it the "world's best", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
"Russia has been preparing for the World Cup and all the obligations Russia has taken as the championship's organizer are being implemented and will be fulfilled on time," Peskov said.
"We have no doubts that the 2018 World Cup in Russia will be written in history as one of the best championships," he said, noting that Russia has proved many times its capability to hold international sports events.
Preparations for the event require implementation of about 300 infrastructure projects in 11 host cities. Besides, 20 more cities were involved in visitors' accommodation service program.
In late January, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said Russia had to cut its budget spending on preparations of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, citing financial restraints. Endi
