Iceland's fish catch up in Feb.

Iceland experienced a spike in the increase of fish caught in February 2015, a 117-percent year-on-year growth, according to figures issued Monday by Statistics Iceland.

The statistics agency showed the total fish caught in February 2015 amounted to 222,804 tonnes, including 39,859 tonnes of demersal catch and 181,764 tonnes of pelagic catch, and some shellfish.

The total volume in February this year increased by 120,679 tonnes of fish compared with that of February last year.

The total fish caught in the period between March 2014 and February 2015 was 1,229,719 tonnes, an increase of 6.9 percent compared with 1,150,067 tonnes of fish caught in the previous yearly period. Endit
