Consular services remain suspended at U.S. missions in Saudi Arabia

Xinhua, March 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Consular services remained suspended Monday at U.S. missions in Saudi Arabia, the U.S. embassy said, citing "hightened security concerns."

In a notice posted on its website, the embassy urged U.S. citizens to "limit non-essential travel within the country," and "be aware of their surroundings, and take extra precautions when travelling" throughout Saudi Arabia.

The suspension of consular services at U.S. missions in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran started on Sunday.

In January, two U.S. nationals were attacked in the eastern province of Al-Ahsa; one of them was injured.

Saudi Arabia and the United States enjoy good relations and cooperate closely in fighting terrorism in the region. Endit
