FTSE 100 closes lower on Friday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Friday decreased by 0.30 percent, or 20.49 points, to 6,740.58.

Meggitt's share price increased by 2.77 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. British Land, Reckitt Benckiser Group, ARM Holdings and GKN increased by 2.42 percent, 2.28 percent, 2.07 percent and 1.85 percent respectively.

Tullow Oil led the losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.21 percent, followed by BHP Billiton (3.20 percent), BG Group (3.10 percent), Glencore (2.94 percent) and Standard Chartered (2.43 percent).

The index has gained 3.63 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollars. Endit
