Long route night buses resumes operation in Bangladesh

Long route bus service at night, which was suspended since February 9, resumed operation in Bangladesh as the government assured the owners security support, The Transport Owners Association(TOA) announced here on Thursday.

The TOA announced the resumption of the services from tonight after they had a meeting with state minister of home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

The government asked the owners to suspend night services on February 9, after some brutal attack on night bus services.

At least 86 people have so far been killed, mostly in mindless arson attacks, since the nationwide indefinite blockade was implemented on January 5.

Three major incidents of night buses being torched in firebomb attacks took place in Gaibandha, Rangpur and Comilla. At least 20 people were killed in these attacks. Endi
