Indian gov't pledges to take steps to curb food adulteration

The Indian government on Thursday termed food adulteration as a "very serious issue" and pledged to take steps to curb the menace.

"The government understands the really very serious issue. The government is determined to take steps to better equip the laboratories and train the food inspectors. Some changes are required to be made in the rules," Indian Health Minister J.P. Nadda told the parliament.

A number of people, including children, often become victims of adulterated food in India every year.

In most cases, people involved in the crime managed to get away because of the lengthy legal process in the country. Endi
