Xinhua, March 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Five Tunisians who had been held in Libya for three days were released on Wednesday, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The Ministry said in a statement that the five Tunisians are safe and in a good condition.

The victims were kidnapped by a group of unknown Libyans in the Janzur area near Tripoli. They are from the same family, from Kairouan, center of Tunisia.

They were released after contacts between the Tunisian and Libyan authorities and negotiations with the kidnappers.

Several Tunisians were kidnapped before, some of them were safely freed, while others such as journalists Sofien Chourabi and Nadhir Ktari remain missing.

Chourabi and Ktari have been missing for nearly 200 days in Libya, with no information about their location or whether they are kidnapped or imprisoned.

Both Tunisian and Libyan authorities stated that they are alive. Endit
