Five Chelsea fans to face court over Paris Metro chants

Xinhua, March 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Five Chelsea fans accused of being involved in a racist incident on the Paris Metro have been ordered to appear at a court.

The fans sang racist chants on the Paris Metro and blocked a black man to board the train ahead of a Champions League game Paris St Germain on 17 February.

The five summonsed men must appear at a Court in London on 25 March.

The Metropolitan Police have applied for football banning orders to be imposed on the men.

The orders can be issued after a conviction for a football- related offence and last for between three and 10 years. They are imposed to prevent unruly fans going to games in Britain or abroad, and a breach of an order can lead to up to six months in prison. Endite
