Xinhua, March 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least two people were injured when a car exploded near a hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Wednesday evening, police say.

The blast happened when police on patrol tried to stop the car. A security officer is among the injured.

Witnesses told Xinhua there was a huge sound of explosion and a thick smoke near the hotel, and the car was totally destroyed.

The police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is under way.

The incident happened barely a week after a similar one hit a nearby street which killed two people and injured a police officer. Endi
