Anti-urine paint considered by Australian city

Xinhua, March 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Australian local government is deciding whether to use a paint which deflects liquids as a measure against public urination.

The Gold Coast City council in southern Queensland has looked to the German city of Hamburg where the paint used in shipbuilding has been adhered to public walls where people urinate instead of using a toilet.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Wednesday that public urination in popular tourist destinations had become a nuisance.

The paint reportedly deflects liquids, splashing them back to the people urinating on walls.

Local government officials are considering the idea, but one issue is that the paint is very expensive and would cost 700 Australian dollars (533 U.S. dollars) per six square meters if it was applied to. Endi
