Portugal supports Albania's EU integration

Xinhua, March 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Portugal supports Albania's efforts to join the European Union (EU) and encourages in this regard the measures aimed at advancing Albania's integration process, Portugal's Secretary of State of European Affairs Bruno Macaes said here on Tuesday.

Macaes, on his first official visit to Albania, met Albanian Minister for European Integration Klajda Gjosha, and the two then held a joint press conference.

Albania and Portugal will further deepen cooperation in many areas of mutual interest and the economic cooperation in particular, according to Gjosha.

Gjosha stated that Albania needs the support and experience of the EU member states in order to advance its European agenda, adding that Albania is making efforts to meet the five key priorities, aiming at opening the accession negotiations as soon as possible.

Macaes emphasized that EU member states monitor and assess every step towards the EU membership, adding that it is important to move ahead with the integration reforms. Endit
