296 shuttlers to compete at Vietnam's international championship

A total of 96 shuttlers are expected to compete at Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2015, scheduled to kick off on March 13 here, said Vietnam Badminton Association (VBA) on Tuesday.

Thirty-nine athletes are from Vietnam while the rest come from China, Chinese Taipei, China's Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, Canada, Scotland, Greece, the United States and Pakistan.

Star players among the competitors include Singapore's Jiayuan Chen (ranked 39th), American Iris Wang (ranked 41st), Thailand's Suppanyu Avihingsanon (ranked 45th), Vietnam's Vu Thi Trang (ranked 46th) and Indonesia's Fikri Ihsandi Hadmadi (ranked 82nd), according to the news agency VNA.

Scoring system of the Badminton World Federation will be applied in the championship, said VBA, adding that athletes will compete in men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
