Chinese celebs arrested for beating up taxi driver

Shanghai police have arrested former soccer star Gao Feng and a famous actor following an attack on a taxi driver on Tuesday.

According to Huangpu district police, Gao Feng, a former Chinese international and Nie Yuan, well-known for many televisions series, assaulted the driver in a hotel lobby on Monday.

The fight started with a quarrel between Qiu Qiming, former anchor of the China Central Television (CCTV) and the driver. It is claimed that Gao and Nie, who were with Qiu at the time, attacked the driver, fracturing his eye socket and causing injuries to his nose and shoulder.

Gao later tested positive for crystal methamphetamine and confessed to drug use during interrogation.

Gao and Nie were arrested. Qiu has been released on bail. Further investigation is under way. Endi
