1st LD: 8 killed in southern Afghanistan's car bombing

At least eight people were killed and six others wounded in a suicide car bombing in southern Afghan provincial capital of Lashkar Gah on Tuesday evening, official source said. "The blast targeted a running police vehicle in Bolan locality, a suburban in Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province. The attack caused seven civilians and the attacker killed,"provincial government spokesman Omar Zwak told Xinhua.

Two police and four civilians were injured, the official added, but unofficial sources said 23 people were wounded in attack that occurred at around 6:00 p.m. local time.

Government Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah strongly condemned the incident.

The blast was followed by an explosion in northern Baghlan province with feared casualties. Endi
