Cambodian PM to attend world conference on disaster risk reduction in Japan

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will attend the 3rd United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction from March 14 to 18 in Sendai, Japan, according to a press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

The conference will review the progress of the"Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015: building the resilience of nations and communities to disasters"and consider its successor -- a post- 2015 framework for disaster risk reduction, the statement said.

On the sidelines of the conference, Hun Sen will be received in royal audience by Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Sendai and hold a bilateral talk with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, it said.

Hun Sen will be accompanied by Nhim Vanda, 1st vice-president of the National Committee for Disaster Management, and other members of the Cambodian government. Endi
