Nikkei slips 0.67 pct on concerns over yen's sharp fall

Tokyo stocks fell 0.67 percent to a two-week low Tuesday as the yen's sharp fall sparked concerns about rises in import costs for Japanese firms.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 125.44 points, from Monday to 18,665.11, the lowest close since Feb. 25.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 7.01 points, or 0.46 percent, lower at 1, 524.75.

Major declining industry sectors included pulp and paper, mining and banking.

The turnover was 2,596.83 billion yen (about 21.31 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
