Chinese medical team donates medicines, equipment to Cameroonian hospital

The 17th Chinese medical team to Cameroon donated medicines and equipment to a hospital in the capital Yaounde on Monday.

The Chinese government started sending medical aid team to Cameroon in 1975. Currently there are 45 Chinese medical team members working in three hospitals in Cameroon, the Yaounde Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and Mbalmayo Hospital in the Central Region, and Guider Hospital in North Region.

Wang Jixiao who is in charge of Chinese medical team in Yaounde Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said at the handing over ceremony that the donation includes some anesthetics and equipment used in departments of obstetrics, orthopedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, radiology and anesthesia.

He hoped the donated materials will improve the medical conditions in the hospital in order to provide better service for the patients.

Angwafo III, the general manager of the hospital in a speech thanked the Chinese medical team for their support, saying this donation shows the Chinese medical team's support to the hospital and caring to the patients. Angwafo promised they will use well the donated medicines and equipment.

Yaounde Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was built with the assistance of the Chinese government. It was officially opened on March 28, 2002 by Cameroonian President Paul Biya. Endi
