Two senior Taliban leaders among four killed in Pakistan's Karachi

Pakistani forces killed two senior Taliban leaders in the port city of Karachi late Monday, police said. Two other Taliban activists were also killed in clashes in Sarjani Town area.

Police said that Tariq Khan alias Chota, chief of the Tehrik-e- Taliban Pakistan in Karachi and his deputy Rahman ud din alias Lalala involved in exchange of firing.

Two other Taliban leaders identified as Amjad Khan and Sardar Rab Khan were also killed in the encounter. They all belonged to the splinter Taliban's Sajna group. The group is based in South Waziristan tribal region.

Police said that two paramilitary soldiers were injured in the clashes.

The clashes started after the police and paramilitary forces launched a search operation for the Taliban leaders on a tip off. The suspects started firing at the raiding party to avoid arrest, a police officer said.

He said that one of the Taliban leaders was a would-be suicide bomber. The police recovered two hand grenades, a suicide jacket and arms. Endi
