Xinhua, March 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

A newly-completed international port terminal in Myanmar's Yangon has been put into service, according to the Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC), which funded the project, on Monday.

The newly-opened Ahlone International Port Terminal-1 is close to Yangon downtown area and is located on the eastern bank of Yangon River.

The wharf with a 600-meter-long bridge and 19.51 hectares of a container space allows three vessels with 20,000 tons of load, the MEC disclosed.

The new transport facility has a container storage capacity of 13,210 TEU (20-foot equivalent unit) in the container yard, it added.

The Ahlone international port terminal project started implementation in early 2013 and is one of the six projects being implemented under Yangon port terminals development project. Endi
