Poland cervical cancer death rate highest among EU countries

The death rate of cervical cancer in Poland is 70 percent higher than the European Union average, according to "Cancer Defense" action on Sunday.

According to the National Cancer Register, in 2010 more than 3,000 persons became sick with this type of cancer in Poland, while 1,700 deceased, the action said.

The action seized the opportunity of the International Women's Day to call for awareness of the disease among Polish women, especially since this type of cancer is fully curable, provided that it is detected at early stage. Endit
