The Iraqi government on Saturday said that the Islamic State (IS) militants destroyed the ancient remains of the Hatra city in south of Iraq's northern province of Nineveh.

A statement by the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry said "the terrorist Daash (IS militant group) has stolen and destroyed the city of Hatra", which dates back to 2,000 years and is located some 110 km southwest of Nineveh's provincial capital city of Mosul. (Iraq-IS)

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- A soldier was killed and three others injured as a roadside bomb struck a military vehicle in the southern Helmand province on Saturday, an official said.

"A mine planted by militants on a road struck a military vehicle in Sangin district at around 04:00 p.m. local time today, leaving one soldier dead and injuring three others," an Afghan army commander in the province General Jilani told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Blast)

MOSCOW -- Two suspects have been detained for involvement in the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, Russian Federal Security Service chief Alexander Bortnikov said Saturday.
