Nepal's airport resumes int'l flights after four-day closure

After nearly four days of closure, Nepal's only international airport, the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), has resumed its services to all incoming and outgoing international flights from 7:30 p.m. local time Saturday, Nepalese aviation authorities told Xinhua.
The airport has reopened all international operations as the crash-landed Turkish Airlines plane was successfully removed from the runway and pulled towards a secure parking zone, officials said.
"The only runway has been cleared, now all international operations have been resumed," TIA Manager Purna Chudal told Xinhua. He said the TIA will open round-the-clock service for all international flights to ease the flow of stranded passengers.
Approximately 40,000 passengers and 240 flights had been affected due to the airport closure for the past days.
The Turkish Airlines plane that skidded off the runway on Wednesday has been removed from the grassland in the second attempt after replacing the damaged wheels, with the help of Indian Removal Kits.
Turkish Airlines Flight TK726 veered off the runway in course of landing at the TIA on Wednesday morning. Among the 227 people on board, including 11 crew members, there were no fatalities. Endi
