France bids to host 2025 World Expo

France presented on Thursday its official bid to host in Paris the World Expo 2025, eying to boost cloudy economy and create dynamism in the euro-zone's main powerhouse.

At a gathering headed by Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and many business leaders and diplomatic envoys, Expofrance 2025, a non-profit organization that initiate and sponsor France's candidacy, unveiled their project to host the international exhibition.

With private investments, the scheme costs were estimated at 2.9 billion euros while revenue was expected at 3.1 billion euros with 300 million euros of net profit.

According to the sponsors, the project will lure 80 million visitors in six months, with the expo's forums will be held in different places in Paris and Ile de France.

"We must find the momentum that exhibitions gave in the 19th century. Rebuilding a large corporate project with the French, with business, with the territory is now essential to restore confidence and do make France shining again in the world," Jean-Christophe Fromantin, mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine and Expofrance president, told the news channel i-Tele.

Recently, French President Francois Hollande backed France's bid to host the World Exhibition saying "France is able to host great events. France needs this project. It is a great nation which must show that it is able to welcome." Endit
