Gasol's last-second shot lifts Grizzlies over Rockets

Xinhua, March 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Marc Gasol sank a running jumper with 0.1 seconds remaining to lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a 102-100 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night at Toyota Center.

The Rockets were leading 59-54 after a tight first half. Memphis made a spurt at the beginning of the third quarter and quickly erased the deficit. The Rockets found themselves trailing by 14 points in the fourth quarter before having a late comeback.

They tied the game to 100-100 before Gasol nailed that critical jumper. Houston regretfully lost the game with a small margin. It was their second straight loss.

Terrence Jones led the Rockets with 21 points, whereas James Harden had 18 in his return after a one-game suspension for kicking Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James during a Sunday game.

Gasol finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Zach Randolph chipped in 15 points and eight boards for Memphis. Endi
