Discipline inspector stresses supervision over lower-level local officials

Xinhua, March 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

A senior disciplinary official stressed that the inspection and supervision of leading officials at the provincial level and below should be intensified.x Li Xiaohong, a senior official of a central group for inspection work, said inspectors should focus on local governmental and Party departments at city and county level, according to an article published on the website of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Tuesday.

Local officials at these levels should be subject to strict supervision, thus, ensuring that officials found to have broken rules and regulations will not be promoted, Li said.

Li explained that the CCDI would not be directly in charge of the inspection.

Also, he said, inspections at the city or county level should be carried out by superior provincial-level discipline authorities instead of self-check at city or county level.

Watchdogs should make this an emphasis in their work this year, he added. Endi
