Xinhua, February 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Indian authorities on Wednesday detained a U.S. woman tourist at an airport in the northern state of Punjab for carrying ammunition in her baggage.

"During screening, bullets were found in the American woman's baggage at Amritsar airport in the morning. She was about to catch a flight and has now been detained," a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.

She is being interrogated, he said, adding that a probe has been ordered.

The U.S. Embassy would be informed if she is arrested after her interrogation, the officer said. Endi
