LME base metals rise on Tuesday

The base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed higher on Tuesday.

European Union officials on Tuesday approved the extension aid program for Greece.

Commenting on the list of Greece reform measures, European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis said those measures are deemed sufficiently comprehensive to be a valid starting point for the successful conclusion of the review.

On the same day, Janet Yellen, chair of U.S. Federal Reserve, said Fed can be flexible in determining when to raise interest rates, by stressing many Americans remain unemployed and wages growth is still "sluggish".

Yellen is scheduled to give her semi-annual testimony in the U.S. Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The three-month unofficial copper price increased 136 U.S. dollars, or 2.39 percent, to 5,818 dollars per tonne.

The three-month unofficial aluminium price increased 36 dollars, or 2.01 percent, to 1,826 dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial lead price increased 13 dollars, or 0.73 percent, to 1,783 dollars a tonne.

Besides, the three-month unofficial zinc price increased 34 dollars, or 1.66 percent, to 2,080 dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial nickel price increased 247.5 dollars, or 1.75 percent, to 14,412.5 dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial tin price increased 250 dollars, or 1.39 percent, to 18,175 dollars a tonne. Endit
