Man with swine flu dies in hospital in Slovakia

A 56-year-old man who had been admitted to hospital with swine flu on Tuesday in Rimavska Sobota in Central Slovakia died on the same day, a hospital spokesman said.

"The patient died of multi-organ failure that was related to severe pneumonia of both parts of the lungs caused by the H1N1 influenza virus," added Kral.

Another patient with swine flu is still in the hospital. His condition is currently described as stable.

"The hospital has adopted strict anti-epidemic measures," hospital epidemiologist Jana Skalova said.

The H1N1 swine flu virus was reported for the first time in Slovakia in 2012 and has claimed nine lives so far. Endit
