Liberia reopened its border Sunday after President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf ordered the lifting of nationwide curfews imposed because of the outbreak of Ebola virus disease.
The government of Sierra Leone has also reopened its border with Liberia.
Liberia's Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Mohamed Passewee told reporters on Tuesday the information confirmed that the government of Sierra Leone has assigned officers along the border to have it reopened.
The reopening of the border was "highly welcomed by Liberians and their Sierra Leonean counterparts who share common cultural and historical ties, " he added.
"We had training yesterday for all our people at the border to ensure all Ebola precautionary measures are adhered to as people begin to move from one end to the other," Passewee said.
Meanwhile, Liberia's Maryland County's southeastern crossing points into Ivory Coast have been reopened since February, according to Immigration Officers assigned there, signaling the resumption of traffic. Endi
