Indonesian president appoints acting chairman of anti-corruption body

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday appointed Tufiequrahman Ruki as acting chairman of the country's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The appointment came after the temporary quit of the commission 's chairman who has been declared by police as a corruption suspect.

Ruki was the first chairman of KPK from the period of 2003 to 2007 and had successfully led the commission in fighting corruption, winning support from investors in the country.

The president also named Indrianto Seno Aji, a lecturer of law in leading Indonesian University, and Johan Budi, KPK's deputy chairman for prevention of graft, as acting deputy chairmen of the body.
