Czech PM against writing off Greek debt

Xinhua, February 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

After a meeting of economy ministers on Tuesday, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said on Czech Television (CT) that Greece's debt should not be written off and the new Greek government should observe agreements Greece signed.

He said that Czech supports the staying of Greece in the euro zone.

Sobotka said the Greek government should be given an opportunity to take into account the social priorities it has, including the reduction of high unemployment.

"The new Greek government should be given certain space to organize social programs which would help the most jeopardised groups of Greek citizens, but this cannot happen by means of writing off the Greek debt. I think this is a thing unacceptable to a large extent," said Sobotka. Endit
