Mortar shelling kills 7 people in Syria's Aleppo

Xinhua, February 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seven people were killed and many others wounded by fresh rebel mortar shelling on a government-controlled district of Syria's northern province of Aleppo on Monday, the official Syrian TV reported.

The shelling targeted the government-controlled al-Seryan district in the western part of Aleppo, said the report, accusing "terrorists" of being behind the shelling.

Meanwhile, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Syrian warplanes carried out several airstrikes on militant positions in the rebel-held eastern part of Aleppo city amid incessant clashes in other parts of the conflict-torn city.

Also on Monday, the state news agency SANA said Syrian troops continued hitting positions of armed "terrorist" groups in Eastern Ghouta countryside of the capital Damascus, killing many militants. Endit
