Sri Lanka, India relax visa regulations for diplomats

Sri Lanka and India have signed an agreement granting diplomats and government officials from both sides of visa-free access and stay for up to 30 days, the Sri Lankan foreign ministry said here on Monday.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Sathya Rodrigo told Xinhua that previously, diplomats from India and Sri Lanka had to apply for a visa when traveling between both countries.
The agreement was signed coinciding with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's visit to India, his first official overseas trip since taking office.
Sirisena, on a four day official visit to India, has stressed that his government would strengthen the friendship with neighbors. Endi
