Singapore nods Airbus Asia-SIA joint venture

A proposed joint venture between Airbus Services Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (Airbus Asia) and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA), which aims to provide pilot training services for Airbus aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region, has been cleared by the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS).
CCS said in a press release on Monday that after reviewing submissions and feedback from customers and competitors as well as a public consultation, it drew to a conclusion that the transaction is unlikely to lead to substantial competition concerns in Singapore.
CCS's major concern is that the joint venture may lessen competition in the relevant markets for the provision of Airbus aircraft pilot training services and Full Flight Simulators (FFS) software and data packages for Airbus aircraft.
Instead, CCS said the joint venture, which is about to create a new player in regional market, is likely to increase the level of competition for such services. Endi
