Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1130 GMT, Feb. 16

The Australian share market closed stronger on Monday after a volatile day of trading.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 11.2 points higher, or 0.19 percent, at 5,888.7, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 14 points, or 0.24 percent, to 5849.5.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 0.73 points, or 0.04 percent, to 1,958.23 at the close. Trading volume stood at 344.84 million shares worth 3.64 trillion won (3.3 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.14 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 11. 20 points to 7784.65. The all-share index went up by 4.15 points, or 0.09 percent, to 4510.15.

Trading volume reached 2.20 billion shares worth 5.12 billion pesos (115.64 million U.S. dollars).

There were 86 gainers, 85 losers while 54 stocks closed flat.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved up 43.99 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 24,726.53 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,687.15 and 24, 771.60. Turnover totaled 51.28 billion HK dollars (about 6.61 billion U.S. dollars).

SHENZHEN -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 11,595.25 points Monday, up 1.33 percent.

A Share Index: 13,444.22 points, up 1.33 percent.

B Share Index: 7,132.23 points, down 1.26 percent.

Total turnover: 275.1 billion yuan (44.9 billion U.S. dollars)

SHANGHAI-- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,222.36 points Monday, up 0.58 percent.

A Share Index: 3,376.28 points, up 0.58 percent;

B Share Index: 294.82 points, up 0.27 percent;

Total turnover: 266 billion yuan (43.5 billion U.S. dollars).

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSEX (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday 4,769.47 points, down 61.70 points or about 1.28 percent from Sunday.

Among a total of 313 issues traded, 68 registered gains and 209 incurred losses while 36 remained unchanged.

Total turnover increased to about 2.80 billion taka (about 35. 93 million U.S. dollars) on Monday from about 2.65 billion taka ( about 33.93 million U.S. dollars) on Sunday.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Monday down 0.12 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 1.76 points to 1,414.67. A total of 48,340 shares worth about 335 million Lao kip (about 41,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.94 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 3,427.16.

A total of 927.3 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.02 billion Singapore dollars (748.7 million U.S. dollars).

JAKARTA- -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 48.67 points, or 0.91 percent, to a level of 5,325.50 on Monday.

Some 200,727 transactions were booked, involving 5.56 billion shares worth 5.73 trillion rupiah (about 449.38 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,808.89, up 7. 94 points or 0.44 percent, and the Emas was at 12,462.54, up 34.20 points or 0.27 percent.

Turnover declined to 2.06 billion shares valued at 2.12 billion ringgit Malaysia(591.85 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.96 billion shares valued at 2.33 billion ringgit Malaysia(650.66 million U.S. dollars) on last Friday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)index Monday moved down 7.85 points, or 0.49 percent to close at 1,608.04 points.

Some 10.87 billion shares worth 44.97 billion baht (about 1.38 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks market benchmark BSE Sensex closed higher on Monday, touching a high of 29,325.35 and a low of 29,083. 40 in trade.
