Uganda's cricket team departs for World Cup U-19 qualifiers

Uganda's cricket team on Thursday traveled to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to take part in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup U-19 qualifiers.
The team that has been training for the last one month will be targeting a top finish at the event which runs Feb. 13-19.
Head Coach Henry Okecho said before departure that the response has been good and the team is prepared for battle.
The former national team skipper said that with the crop of players in the U-19 team, the future is very bright for Ugandan cricket.
"These boys are ready to go and deliver. We must take every game as it comes and strive to win," added the Coach.
Justine Ligyalingi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) said Uganda has very high chances of winning the event and automatically qualify for the 2016 World Cup in Bangladesh.
"The best team will automatically qualify, while the second placed will have an opportunity to also make it to the World Cup by playing in the Global qualifiers that will have six teams," explained Ligyalingi. The qualifiers to be played on a round robin basis will have Uganda, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, Namibia and hosts Tanzania.
