Germany's benchmark DAX index reaches new record high

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday increased by 1.56 percent and closed at 10,919.65 points, marking a new record high.

"The Dax was supported by news from Minsk," said market analyst Gregory Kuhn of Securities Dealers IG. At the Ukraine crisis talks, which were held in the Belarusian capital of Minsk, a ceasefire agreement for the Ukrainian Donbass region was achieved on Thursday. In addition, the International Monetary Fund promised to put together a 17.5 billion euro (about 19.9 billion U.S. dollars) aid package for Ukraine.

Deutsche Post AG advanced the most by 4.10 percent. HeidelbergCement AG and Deutsche Bank AG climbed up by 3.53 percent and 3.17 percent. ThyssenKrupp AG and adidas AG followed with an increase by 3.10 percent and 2.87 percent.

The personal care products producer Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz dropped the most by 0.69 percent. Commerzbank AG and Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA each declined by 0.31 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.30 billion euros. Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 370.13 million euros. Endit
