Senior official urges concerted efforts in Silk Road initiatives

Xinhua, February 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Liu Qibao, head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China's (CPC) Central Committee, called on nations along the Maritime Silk Road to work together in making the silk road initiative a win-win situation.

Liu made the remarks at an international seminar on the 21st Century maritime Silk Road in Quanzhou, southeast China's Fujian Province.

The proposals to building the Silk Road economic belt and the 21st century maritime Silk Road were initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013. The former is to be established along the ancient Silk Road trade route, stretching northwest from China's coastal area through Central Asia, the Middle East and on to Europe, while the later will run through the country's south to Southeast Asia.

Believing nations along the maritime road enjoy shared destiny, Liu stressed that they should deepen mutual trust and support each other to safeguard regional stability.

Liu also urged the nations to boost cultural, technological and educational exchange. Endi
