Xinhua, February 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Flood swept Albania's southern and southeastern regions, prompting the EU instrument for civil protection to immediately send first aid from Austria which arrived on the ground Wednesday.

The municipality of Fier, one of the Albanian cities affected by the flood, informed that a shipment from Slovakia was expected to arrive on Thursday.

Albanian authorities have asked for high capacity pumps, generators, tents, beds, blankets, winter clothing and food items to recover from the flood.

In Albania, 600 families have been evacuated so far and over 17,000 hectares of land have been inundated. Endit
