Public transport in Albania stages strike seeking ticket price increase

Public transport here staged a three-hour strike on Wednesday, seeking a bus ticket price increase.

Albanian transport association says that the union of transport workers is the initiator of the strike, because the workers have not received salaries for three months.

While movement for "Cheap and quality Transport" made a statement on Wednesday calling on Tirana citizens to take a stand in relation to the increase in the price of the ticket. According to them, the bus drivers and conductors are threatened with dismissal from their employers and were forced to strike.

Public transport announced a one day strike on Thursday.

Bus ticket price setting was transferred to local government from Albanian government two months ago. Endit
